Vellum

Whiteboard speed, architecture-review finish

Vellum is Blueprintr's diagram editor. Sketch a system in minutes, tidy it into an architecture diagram, and open a document behind any shape. It runs in the browser and on the desktop.

Free plan and up

Browsing the shape library, drawing the connection from EC2 to RDS, and tidying how it routes.

Why Vellum

Sketch or formal diagrams, the best of both worlds.

  1. vellum · platform-overview

    Draw like it's a whiteboard

Grab a shape from the library, pull a line to the next one, keep going. Ten minutes is enough for a first pass.

  2. vellum · platform-overview

    Land on something presentable

Straighten the same board for the architecture review. Snap the geometry, route the elbows, drop in icons for AWS, Azure, GCP and Kubernetes.

  3. stratum · api gateway
    34%81%

    Every shape is a door

Bind a shape to a stratum: clicking it opens the markdown, tables, code and files behind it. One shape can open a second diagram.

FAQ

Questions about Vellum

Is Vellum a separate product from Blueprintr?

No. Vellum is Blueprintr's diagram editor. It runs in the browser and as a native app for macOS, Windows and Linux, and the app updates itself.

Can I use draw.io, Excalidraw or Mermaid instead?

Yes. All four editors are available, and a shape in any of them can carry a stratum.

Can two people draw on the same board?

Multi-cursor collaboration is on Premium and up. Two people can draw different halves of one board at the same time.

Are there icons for AWS, Azure and Kubernetes?

Yes. Vendor stencils cover AWS, Azure, GCP and Kubernetes, and you choose which packs are installed.

What can I export?

PNG, SVG, PDF and GIF. The PNG and SVG carry the source inside them, so both reopen in Vellum.

Does it cost anything?

Vellum is on the free plan. Collaboration is the part that needs Premium.
