Blueprintr vs Miro
Miro is where the workshop happens. Blueprintr is where the result gets read a month later. One is an infinite canvas optimised for capture; the other is a bounded document that opens on a diagram and carries the detail behind each shape.

The short version
Choose Blueprintr if
The diagram is documentation that engineers read on call: bounded, published to one URL, with the runbook behind each shape and a scan you can run again when the estate changes.
Choose Miro if
You run workshops, retros and planning with many people on one canvas, and diagramming is one of many things the board holds.
Use both when
The workshop happens on a Miro board. The architecture that comes out of it is redrawn in Blueprintr, and the board links to the blueprint.
How Miro works
Miro is an infinite canvas with sticky notes, shapes, connectors, cards, docs, tables and slides, edited by many people at once. Miro AI generates diagrams from text and images, an AWS Cloud View imports an AWS account on Business and Enterprise, and hundreds of integrations pull Jira, Confluence and Slack content onto the board. Boards embed in Confluence, Notion and websites.
Blueprintr is diagram-first documentation. You draw the system in Vellum, write the detail into the shapes as strata, and publish one live URL. On Team, Continuum Cloud draws AWS and Azure from a read-only scan, and on AWS it also shows Terraform drift on the canvas. On Enterprise, Continuum Link attaches timestamped snapshots from monitoring and ITSM tools to the shapes, and Continuum Local sweeps your on-premise network from inside it so Blueprintr can draw it.

Where Blueprintr differs
Bounded documents
A board has no front page. A blueprint opens on its diagram, with tabs, a contents tree and a sidebar, and readers open the box they came for.
Depth behind the shape
Miro cards carry a description and links. A stratum carries markdown, tables, code, files and tabs, and can hold another diagram.
Scans on the Team plan, for AWS and Azure
Miro's AWS Cloud View is AWS only and needs Business or Enterprise. Continuum Cloud draws AWS and Azure on Team, and shows drift from Terraform state on AWS, which Miro does not read.
History that shows what changed
Miro keeps hourly backups for 90 days on paid plans and restores to a copy. Every blueprint publish is a snapshot, with diffs and restore on Team.
Where Miro is the better choice
Workshops, planning sessions and any collaboration where capture matters more than reading afterwards, across every team in the company.
- The best-known multiplayer canvas, with visitors who can edit without an account.
- AI that generates diagrams, summaries and prototypes, and connectors that pull Jira, Confluence, GitHub and Slack onto the board.
- An AWS Cloud View that imports an account from a read-only role, on Business and Enterprise.
- Imports from Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io, FigJam and Mural.

Moving work from Miro
Export the boards that hold architecture as vector PDF or SVG and the frames as images. Bring the images into a blueprint through the import wizard and redraw the diagram in Vellum with the vendor icon packs; the sticky notes and card descriptions become strata on the shapes they describe. Keep Miro for the next workshop and link the board to the blueprint.
Frequently asked
Is Blueprintr a whiteboard?
No. Vellum has a Notes layer for stickies and freehand annotation, and Excalidraw is available as an engine for sketches, but a blueprint is a bounded document rather than an infinite canvas.
Can Blueprintr import a Miro board?
Not as a board. Export frames as images or the board as SVG and bring those in. Diagrams are redrawn in Vellum.
Does Miro draw cloud architecture from an account?
AWS only, through Cloud View on Business and Enterprise. Blueprintr draws AWS and Azure on Team and reads Terraform state for drift on AWS.
Which is cheaper for a team that mostly reads?
Blueprintr readers are free and unlimited on every plan, and the free plan holds unlimited blueprints. Miro charges per member, though viewers on free boards do not pay.
